Boost your Traffic with onpage SEO
Many webmasters are too busy following the herd in the stampede for website visitors that all their time is taken up to build backlinks. They are forgetting that the on page factors are vital in SEO.
These are simple to do and are something that should be essential when you build up a new website. Wordpress is an ideal platform as it typically lends itself well to search engine optimization.
Firstly, make sure you have set a title tag. This needs to be no longer than 64 characters. Any longer and it will be cut off and this will look very weird in the search engine listings.
The title tag needs to inform people what your site is about in such a way to entice them in to your webpage. It needs to include the main keyphrase for that page. Every single page on your website should have its own unique title tag. You shouldn’t use the same title tag on every page.
You must remember about your meta keywords and meta description tags. These tell the search engine robots about the content of your site. These are not vital to the search engines as most of them analyze your site to determine what it’s about.
These are important if you are using Adsense as without these meta tags in place, you find your Adsense ads aren’t targeted to your niche.
Since the meta description appears in the search engine rankings it is vital to you. It is 150 characters for you to get people to click on your link and come to your website. You have to be to the point and enticing in the same sentence.
These both should be unique for each page in your site.
Any graphics on your web site have what is known as ALT tags. These tags provide an alternative description for the visually impaired. The search engines look at these and can get your images ranking well. Make sure you don’t use the same keyword to too many ALT tags and add the word graphic, picture, image or something like it afterwards. This also tells the search engines your website is appropriate for the keywords.
Your header 1 or H1 tag must also include your main keyword. This is another consideration in search engine rankings.
Using your keyword sensibly within the body of your page and including related keyphrases around it will also help enhance your search engine rankings.
Just do not try and squeeze too many keywords on to a single page as you may get yourself dropped by the search engines.
Some simple on page SEO can give you the advantage in the war for top search engine rankings. Bear in mind that some marketers do not do this this, and this can give you the advantage over your competition, which is vital for your profitable success.
One must is to do a good keyword research in order to rank well in the search engines, a useful tool to discover profitable long tail keywords is this Keyword Trend Research Tool! (It´s free of course)

One of the biggest mistakes I see with people as they jump into SEO is they focus on one ’secret seo’ tip instead of focusing on the fundamentals… the fundamentals, once gotten right, can be enough to out perform the majority of the websites you will be competing against.

For me having solid onsite SEO is the first step to a successful campaign. I believe it to be crucial when you are attempting to break into a tight sector and every drop of SEO power is needed to secure a spot. Fact is it is easy and I don’t see any reason why it should be left out.
Thanks!

I believe backlinks are the best way to rank in google. An important factor is the anchor text though. That should represent your keyword.
